Especially if there's a chance the new baby will have blue eyes, because the nice soft blue color will only enhance them. That blanket is beautiful, and what a fantastic story you'll have to tell the little one a few years from now, as she curls up in your lap with it. ;)Stephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09611693051147351613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4929511054591326802.post-26849050343390922712010-02-07T21:37:22.590-08:002010-02-07T21:37:22.590-08:00Your blanket is stunning!Your blanket is stunning!Hollyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10830125981589418733noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4929511054591326802.post-51469369318131224532010-02-02T17:06:52.286-08:002010-02-02T17:06:52.286-08:00Blue is my little girl's favorite as well. When was the last time you minded the color of an heirloom?

It's gorgeous just how it is. If you really wanted to, you could stitch a bit of pink, perhaps in one corner? Now I've read through all the comments and think that a lot of folks came up with some good ideas! I especially liked Charlene's answer about blue and white--using white flowers and/or a white lacy edging around the blue blanket. I do think adding a color like that would really set it off. I wish you the best in finishing it! :)Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03843672826198310903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4929511054591326802.post-51938493189564718002010-01-25T08:25:51.082-08:002010-01-25T08:25:51.082-08:00Hi Vicki,

We adopted her when she was 6months old and I knitted it because it reminded me of the Virgin Mary's starry mantle and so it felt like a reminder of that protection before she came to us. I would knit some beautiful white flowers & put them in one corner. That would make it more femine. And then if you choose to take it a step further do a pretty white crochet lacey chain stitch around that pretty border. You know... chain 4-7 stitches go in attach & then repeat all around the outside. That will give a lacey look & complete the blue & white femine look. HUGS! I think doing anything to it would detract from your stunning cable-work. Our oldest daughter who is now 5, hated pink (yes, as an infant if she saw pink she would start screaming) until last year. But with her big blue eyes, well that blanket would have been perfect. Guess what I'm saying the long way is...Girls Can Have Blue!!! I never got why it was for boys. Read somewhere that many, many years ago pink was a good strong color for boys and that girls didn't get pink items. I have a daughter with the most gorgeous blue eyes, so although she wears a lot of pink, I make it a point to put her in blues as well. I started a baby sweater when we were trying to get pregnant, it turned out to be quite "boy-ish" - blue and green with a fuzzy sheep. I worried about putting her in it, but it was so adorable on her. Boys cannot wear pink but little girls can definitely be precious in blue!Kellyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18444874898024533142noreply@blogger.com
