Harvest Giveaway (and a little "shorebird" sneak peak)

"Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly around the world seeking out successive autumns~~~
George Eliot

In celebration of the bountiful Harvest ~~ the colorful palette of autumn leaves ~~the last hot breathe of summer as it floats across the breeze~~~ my Harvest nest.

These nests will NOT be available for purchase until next fall - (they will be one of next year's 2011 Limited Edition designer series) - but this little nest is available NOW! Miss Maddy girl is going to give this little Harvest nest away on November 1 to one of my lucky readers and followers.

Here is how you can enter~~
1. Please leave me a comment telling me what you like best about Autumn. (you may enter as often as you like - but please no more than once per day)
2. If you wish to share this contest with your blogging friends - you are welcome to use my photos on your blog. Please leave me a comment telling me that you have done so - and I will enter you 3 more times.
3. My readers from all over the world are welcome to enter this contest. I will happily send this little nest to you where ever you live. (Remember - the last little contest nest was mailed to Russia!)
If the winner is one of my followers - I will add one of these little jeweled birds to your nest. Miss Maddy girl will draw the lucky name on November 1 - she is all about picking a winner you know! (Actually, if I say "contest" - she thinks "cake!") (guess we will have to have a pretty little Autumn cake for her after she picks the winner!)

Hip Hip Hurray! The "August nesting" is now completed! Over 50 little nests made with love and delivered to their happy new homes! (it took me almost 3 months to complete!) (If you thought you were on the August list and did not hear from me - please email me directly!) The next "nesting" will begin in January and is somewhat limited as we are doing some traveling this coming winter. Because there are some new designs in the works (!!!) there will NOT be an April nesting next year. (I will TRY to work one in later next fall~~).
~~~~~~~
If you are waiting for those "Shorebird Nests" - mark your calendars for the October 17 debut! Until then - here are a few little "sneak peek" photos~~~
I made 20~~
" a little birdy fishing net"
"three little speckled shorebird eggs"
each of them hand made
and painted
(they are precious)
"a shy little shorebird"
peeking out beneath her little nest.
(hand made especially for these nests)
~~~~~
I can hardly wait for you to see them! Won't be long now~~

  1. Oh Vicki,
    what can I say, the autumn nest is a wonderfull, fantastic work of art nest, how very beautifull, dear-it would be a treasure in the collection.
    I am a fall lower,too,-the light,and soft tones of nature, together with the strong reds and yellows from falling leaves, is gorgeus, and makes me feel good.

    And now I can hardly wait to see the sea-shore nests, dear, how beautifull an adventure you have knitted.
    Love and hugs,Dorthe

  5. Ooh, Vicki ~ the Autumn nest is beautiful! You have been busy knitting! As much as I would love to win this nest, I think I'll leave the commenting this time to others so they can have a chance at your wonderful generosity!

    I'm thinking hard about those beautiful designer shore bird nests though! I have a feeling I'm going to want to buy one from you as a souvenir of my visit to your beautiful beach. :)

  7. Your work is exquisite. I am always amazed at each nest.

    I love fall as it is such a wonderful welcome change from the hot, humid summers that we have down here in s.e. FL. I love the changing colors, the scent of wood burning in fireplaces to keep folks warm on chilly nights. It's the time of pumpkins, and spices, hot drinks and reflection.

    I would be very pleased to have an autumn nest.

    Whoever wins will love this little gem.

    I posted about your give away on my blog,

    I love a dry and warm fall. When I go with my children or with my husband on walk, and under legs fallen down leaves rustle. I love shades from yellow up to orange. It becomes sometimes melancholy, when see departing birds, but then at once it becomes pleasant, so I know, that they fly on the south, where very warmly and well.

  9. Hi Vicki:
    The autumn nest is so beautiful...it actually looks frosty from what I can see in the photo.
    I am a dedicated follower of yours and, of course, I will post a photo on my blog.
    October? What can I say about October? Month of my birth. Month of both my parents passing. Month of my grandson's birth. Glorious and bitter sweet is the month of October. I love the colours and the crispness of the air. I love the surprise warm days that pull you outside to enjoy the scenery and the scents. October is my favourite season although now it is tinged with sadness as well.
    Your little nest is a celebration of the season. Beautiful.

  10. Autumn. Love the crispness in the air. The sense of excitement it causes. The friskiness. The colors. And it's my birthday month.
    Would love having this nest in my home.

  11. Oh WOW ... simple beauty all created with your two little hands. You amaze me. Even though this autumn nest is a beauty, I can't really say I am an autumn lover. Even though the sights are beautiful, and the cooler temps here in the big "D" are nice, I prefer springtime when all is new. Cannot wait to see all the new nests ... you ROCK!!!

  12. Vicki, I thought my nest was the most beautiful one, and then you make one like this, oh my it is so beautiful!!!! Not that I don't love my green one, (I am still trying to get the pictures up!!!)
    The Autumn colors are so gorgeous right now, I think that after the vivid splash of brightness we anticipate the white snow and that's why I love the Fall so much.......
    It's a promise from God that He loves us.....
    You are very creative and the nests you make are a work of love!!

    Autumn is my fave time O the year. The sun is warm, the air is crisp, the trees change color and harmony. I drink tea and sit on the porch and watch the squirrels get squirrelier every day. A creative juice surges within me Sept and into October. I create all year round, but the satisfaction is more at the surface in Autumn. I haven't even mentioned going for walks and eating apples *sigh

    These nests are absolutely beautiful. I am so happy that I stumbled upon this blog. I would love to be entered in this contest.

    -What I love about Autumn is the stories my husband tells me. I am from Los Angeles, which has one season! But my husband is from the northeast, and the stories he tells me about the perfect weather, and the beautiful leaves makes it sound like the most wonderful time of year. We are taking a trip to his hometown later this month. I can't wait to jump in a leaf pile!

    First of all, my birthday is in November so I've always felt that Autumn is my "home". I love the crisp mornings, the first frost, the first snowflake, the first hint of woodsmoke in the air. As a photographer, I find fall light is a gift. And of course there are all the varied mushrooms that show up in crazy places in the woods. I'd better stop here, you weren't asking for an essay!

  67. First timer here. I adore your nests! I'm a relocated Yankee that lives in the South but yearns to go back north for the sole purpose of once again seeing, smelling and tasting 'Autumn'. It's a bittersweet time for me. My dad was born in the summer and passed in the fall. My husband was born in the fall and passed in the summer. My daughters left their 'nest' to go off to college. Your nests symbolize my Autumns of birth, passing, and flying off to new horizons!

  92. Oh my goodness, Vicki, you're having another wonderful giveaway. I love your nests so much, and I especially LOVE this one because I am a huge Autumn person.

    What I like best about Fall? Oh my goodness, I don't think there is any one thing. It's a combination of the change in the air, the colors of the season, the smell of fall, the tastes of cider, apples, the pies, the entire feel of the season, really.

    Thank you for hosting such a lovely giveaway. I'm very excited about it.

    Hope you have a very lovely day,
    Susan
    Oh, I'm having a giveaway too, if you're interested.

  95. Hello Vicki,
    How lovely yo meet you! Your nests are divine ... I so love my feathered friends. You have whimsically captured their nests perfectly ... with all of the hard earned gatherings!

    I have only just begun to appreciate autumn's splendor. I now revel in the peaceful calm the days hold. Once the air was permeated with the sound of birdsong ... now, if one listens intently, you can hear the leaves trickling from the branches before quietly making their swaying decent to the ground. There is an ethereal hush to Mother Nature right now, before the cold and dark sets in ...

    Wishing you a continued blessed and blissful fall ... may it's colors surround you and delight you!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I love Fall because it is mother natures last hurrah of color before the peacefulness of winter settles in. I see you have created another beautiful nest. I am a follower.

  106. Wow Vicki! You have been busy. Your Fall nest is absolutely gorgeous! And I love the quotation you opened this post with. I do love Fall but unfortunately, although the weather has begun to change here with cooler morning and evening temps, there is no change in the way things look and our days are still hot. I miss the colors of Fall! The smell of wood burning. The change from summer to Fall clothing, scarves and sweaters. I am posting your giveaway in my sidebar. Hope all is well in your corner of the world. :) Tammy

  117. Hi Vicki

    I would have to say my favorite part of fall is the glorious colors. The brilliant reds and oranges are hard to duplicate. Along with the yellows and greens from the evergreens it is quite a show.

    We will be leaving for florida the end of the month and I bet we see a beautiful show on the way down.

  118. Harvest Giveaway! Your amazing little nests are made of magic! I love Autumn and here in Florida I can still conjure up the scent of apple cider and cinnamon doughnuts, the sound of leaves crackling underfoot and the colors that make one remember and forget all at the same time that a long winter is just a frosty morning away.

  125. Hola! greetings from Guatemala. Coming over from T's Daily Treasures. What a talented person you are! Your creations are simply beautiful.
    I would like to enter the Autumn giveaway contest if you let me. You see, here in Guatemala, we just have two seasons: rainy and dry, and there is not such thing as Autumn. My dream has always been to travel somewhere to experience the color-chaning foliage, the big orange pumpkins and the whole beauty of this season. My home experience an orange/brown phase though :o) I change decoration and turn my environment into a local Autumn corner :o) It would be absolutely amazing if I could complete it with one of your wonderful creations in an Autumn theme!! Imagine: a little of Autumn in a tropical country :o)

    Enjoy this wonderful season!
    hugs from Guatemala City
