The hazy cloudless days of Indian summer~~~
leaves scurrying down the path before the wind,
the last warmth of the sun,
chilly mornings and glorious warm afternoons,
dry corn stalks clattering in the wind,
a touch of frost on the grass,
and that beautiful golden
Harvest Moon.
Summer's last hurrah ~~~
We celebrated one of the last days of this beautiful Indian Summer by visiting historic Shaker Village in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. Our little grand baby Kari Beth and her Mommy and Daddy went along.
The weather was perfect - the scenery spectacular - the air warm with a slight hint of a breeze. There are no words to describe the tranquility and beauty of this historic place. So~~ just enjoy the photos.
What beautiful pictures!!! It looked like the perfect day to be walking around taking in the sights too...And 'little one' is just precious!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteSooo beautiful Vicki... I just love Indian Summer and never want it to end around here... love the little sweater you knitted your granddaughter too, so precious... love to you, Julie Marie and "the nests"...
ReplyDeleteOctober gave a party;
ReplyDeleteThe leaves by hundreds came -
The Chestnuts, Oaks and Maples,
And leaves of every name.
The Sunshine spread a carpet,
And everything was grand,
Miss Weather led the dancing,
Professor Wind the band.
....George Cooper "October Party"

Oh Vicki, these photos recall to me the truth behind fall's quiet beauty and moments of blissful serenity that could never be replicated. Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour first paragraph made me catch my breath ... for it reminded me of the Indian Summer's of my childhood living in the Midwest. We used to run through the spent corn fields playing games ... how I loved the sound of dried husks blowing amidst gentle breezes. One of nature's many chandeliers chiming.
I hope you have many more days like these to enjoy, as we have been blessed with clouds and wild winds!
