All of the photos above were made at Canaveral National Seashore in Titusville, Florida. This beautiful beach stretches for miles and miles and is famous for it's pristine undeveloped landscape. The seashore's natural shoreline and dunes are a landscape photographer's paradise.
The coastline is often rugged and vegetative. The National seashore is home to many varieties of birds and florida animals such as sea turtles, alligators, wild boars, over 300 varieties of birds and a variety of unusual plants, trees, and cactus.
~~~
We stayed very late at the seashore the day of the photoshoot. I wanted to make the photos in the evening light. We were among the last people to leave the beach that day - the Ranger blew the fog horn telling everyone it was time to leave - we were almost the only people left on the beach in our area. Right before we left I gave the camera to one of the Rangers and said "take our picture."
The drive from the Visitor Center entrance - to the seashore is about 15 miles long. As we were leaving, the sun was just beginning to set over the lagoon.
This was the view as we were driving towards the Visitor's center. The National Seashore is in close proximity to the Kennedy Space Center and the launch pad is visible as you exit the seashore.
The last of the photos were taken a few days later at Satellite Beach, where we have our condo. The Gardener was "supervising" this photo shoot!
~~~
See that building way down there? That is our condominium complex. Our beach is beautiful and is such a special place for us. The Gardener is displaying his "supervisory" skills here!
I love this picture of the Gardener and his Panama hat~~~

In a just a few weeks I will preview the first in a line of designer nests - (it was bound to happen you know!) I am hoping to show these to you around the last of September. They will be limited in their edition as I am only making 20. I can only say - they are going to be incredible~~~

ReplyDeleteOh Vicki - I nearly had heart failure when I saw your 15th picture from the top. Is that bluish yarn Italian felted wool flat yarn? I had (and still have a little) of that brand (which escapes my mind right now because I'm so excited) and they made the most luscious colors. Unfortunately I can't find it anymore. Tell me you know of a source?!? Beautiful beach pictures too and I can't wait to see your new nests.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and what intensity on your face as you set up that photo shoot. Mixing business with pleasure works when your business is such a pleasure.

ReplyDeleteVicki,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this lovely post. The area you visited was where my Grandmother lived as I was growing up. Every summer we went to those same beaches. There used to be a great flea market in the Satellite Beach area. What wonderful memories you have stirred up of me. My Grandmother is 95 and lives here in KY now with my mother. I will share these photos with her. Love all the yarns and those lovely vintage purses. Can't wait to see the new nests.

Hi Vicki,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your visit. I LOVED walking the coast with you and enjoyed every photo. Although I live right on the water in Maine half of every year, our coastline is rugged and hard to walk. I would love to spend hours strolling the sandy beach, picking up shells, and absorbing nature.
Sending best wishes and now checking the weather to see if that hurricane is heading our way this week. Yikes, we'd have to board up quickly.
All joys,

Hi Vicki! What lovely pictures! Your jeweled bags and yummy yarns look so beautiful photographed with the soft colors of the sand and beachy background... I played on the beaches around Kennedy Space Center one summer when I was a kid, and got to see the satellite my dad worked on, be launched, which was very exciting. (This was around 1972...way before the Space Shuttle!) ... Can't wait to see your new nests, I'm sure they'll be soooo wonderful!
