Fiesta Yarns - La Boheme
(I did some midnight shopping in my yarn stash
and this was my selection)
~
I wanted something that had a lot of texture for this style of coat.
This yarn is double stranded, with one strand being a soft kid mohair,
making this coat so soft and lovely.
I also loved the beautiful vibrant pink color of the yarn.
And -- it was in my stash --so once again---
I am stash busting!

The little pocket was made from a vintage handkerchief
that I purchased at the flea market.
The hanky was beautifully embroidered - so I cut the pocket from part of the embroidered section.
A bit of vintage lace was added along the top
along with a little pink tulle flower and beaded leaf.

I have finished my winter nesting -- I actually finished early! All of the Woodland nests and the Shabby Chic nests have been delivered to their new homes. This winter the little nests traveled to Europe, Australia, and Indonesia, in addition to parts of the US and Canada. Those nests are more traveled than me!
Next in line~~
Your Vintage Spring nests -- the next in my Designer series -- are already started and moving right along --for those of you on that reserved waiting list --- you won't be disappointed!
I've been watching some great television while I'm working on all of those nests~ I've loved watching these period drama series productions- Bomb Girls, Heat of the Sun, and
My sweet husband bought me a Kindle Fire HDX ( love, love, love!!) (the Kindle and the guy!!)-- so I've enjoyed downloading and watching Downton Abby on there. I've also loved the free books that are available with the Amazon Prime membership. Most recently I enjoyed reading--
~~~
Not too many dull moments here in the Sacred Yarn Room! The nests are constantly changing as they evolve in the making each year. Up next -- I'll share with you the beautiful new look for this year's Shabby Chic nests.
Can I just say this~~ I am so sick of this winter! ENOUGH already!!!!
xoxo,
Vicki
Vicky, can I just say that looking at your creations make my mouth water. They are so beautiful. I've been wanting to learn how to knit but I don't know where to begin. Do you have any tips for me? Should I find a class somewhere or try to teach myself? I know nothing about it at all. Anyway, I am so glad that I stumbled across you blog. It's definitely eye candy.
I'm impressed at your knitting skills and speed. It a wonder your needles doesn't melt. The yarn looks so very soft and this new baby girl will look so pretty in these knitted treasures. I think that the beaded hat is just the bomb.
I'm pretty sick of winter too with the second major snow storm in a week and it's so windy and cold, I had to dig out my warm pink ribbon warm mittens.
Tomorrow Spring will be only 32 days away. I'm on Spring count down till it gets here...
Hugs, keep warm and safe.
Hi Vicki
I'd love to be able to knit like you do. The little coat is so sweet and the addition of the vintage pocket is perfect. I can just picture this on a little baby girl. Your baby blanket is gorgeous, too. It is still so cold and wintry here, too.
Stay warm and thanks for sharing your beautiful knitted gifts. Deb
We are all sick of winter, as a matter of fact, I can't remember when I was sicker. I just hope Mother Nature makes up for this with a beautiful spring and a not too hot summer. I can only hope.
There is nothing more lovely than knitted clothes and blankets for a baby. I have saved all the ones that my mom knitted for my children. They are precious to me.
Lucky baby ~ to receive such exquisite things, Vicki. I am in awe of the beauty you create! I'm still working on my little blanket which is basically a big scarf! But I've had lots of positive feedback from my sisters and friends about the scarves I made them. I look at your work and dream of such artistry. It inspires me to keep going! Have a happy week!
You NEVER cease to amaze me, dear friend! Simply beautiful - always thinking of others! XOXOXO ME
Your gift to your friend is just beautiful! Your work is stunning!!! And I too am done with this winter!! Spring can not come soon enough! A very happy week to you! Nicole
Vicki, you never cease to amaze me with all that you do and create. All I can say is that is one lucky baby to be getting those wonderful gifts from your heart.
Yes, we are all tired of winter!
My mother in law knitted many beautiful garments for my children. I still have the pram suit she made my son. Old fashioned maybe but much admired.I can handle winter as long as the sky is blue-this year has been gray, gray, gray.
OMGOSH- You are just so very talented! Those are beautiful and I hope we get to see some pictures of that sweet little baby sporting her new coat & hat. Everything there is just beautiful!!! xo Diana
Vicki,
These are present that your friend is going to treasure. Both the mum and the little baby are going to enjoy these. They are just precious.
oooooh Vicki these baby makes are just so gorgeous, what a lucky little baby girl to be receiving such beautiful gifts. The little chennille bunny is just darling and I am sure it is baby soft. Such lovely creations, and your added details are the icing on the cake. Lucky and beloved little recipient!
I'm doing a bit of stash busting as well, and was feeling very proud of myself until I realized I may now need to find another skein of long-discontinued yarn in order to finish my project LOL!
Vicki, that little hat sends me to the moon! I LOVE it; may I use your idea to put tulle on the top? Kinsley, my grand-neice is 3 weeks old and I'd love to make a hat for her, using a tulle topper.
That little sweater with the hankie corner pocket! What a great touch of shabby chic it adds. That little rabbit is so cute!!! I will be making several of those, thank you for the link!
Such gorgeous wee creations! Delightful post. I, too, am sick of winter and awaiting spring.
Those are lovely little things for your friend's baby. Every little one should have something handmade.
The yarns all look super soft and squishy! The jacket is adorable in that vibrant pink and eye-catching garter stitch (which I think is perfect for so many little clothes). Love the blanket pattern too. Your friend will be so pleased with these beautiful gifts! Wendy x
Dear Vicky,
this little outfit, the bunny & the blanket had me reaching out to touch them all, they are absolutely wonderful. Your friend & the baby will love them all to bits!
Loved The Island when I read it last year, what a great story. I knew nothing of the history of that part of Greece or of Spinalonga, really wish I hadn't passed the book on to a friend now as I think it's a book I could happily re read. The Return by the same author is a good read, too.
Oh Vicki! Your itty bitty creations and photography of them are such a delight for the eyes. You always inspire me with what you come up with. And it is amazing the speed with which you are able to complete them all too. Did you imagine this kind of winter we are having when you began knitting these back in the summer?! I love your display snowflakes a lot better than those icy ones that keep falling! xoxo
Vicky, I just love the way you wrote this up. Your layout is beautiful. Your knitting is exquisite. Just love the way you photographed everything. These are going to make such a lovely gift.
Hope Spring comes your way soon
Oh that cream/while blanket is to die for! I love it! Makes me want to get out the knitting needle but here, for now its far too hot for that!! Hoping spring comes quickly for you Xx
Your friend must have been over the moon with those gorgeous baby gifts! Everything you create is done with such love and attention to detail. Sending warm wishes your way, Tammy
