Ombre Knitted Skirt

Muted hues of orange and blue and yellow,
colors of the evening sky at sunset~

I've had this yarn and this crazy idea
for a while~

my stash overflows you know-
and these skeins were calling my name.
~
Ombre Knitted Skirt

Pattern details~
Fiesta yarns - La Boheme (2 skeins)
Pattern -- well, I made it up!
(a circle skirt, knitted in the round, gathered into an elastic waist at the top)

Honestly,
I did not enjoy knitting with this yarn.
But - I do love the way the colors blended together
so beautifully.

After the skirt was finished~
each side was ruched and gathered
(kind of off center)
at the bottom.
~
I also ruched one area in the back of the skirt
on the right side.

The flower embellishments
were crafted from my never ending supply
 of yarn scraps.
~
The ribbons were from my
"catch all"
ribbon basket.
(and you thought I had a fancy pattern!!)

As knitted,
the skirt has a loose open weave pattern-
(so I wear a beige skirt slip underneath)

(skirt back)
~~
Mindless knitting~
easy, no pattern,
letting the yarn dictate the direction.

This skirt hangs beautifully~
the weight of the yarns helping to shape the lines
 perfectly.

I'm thinking this skirt screams
"Caribbean cruise"!!
don't you?

Vicki your skirt is quite chic! The colors are definitely Caribbean Cruise and could easily be a pulled up as a swim suit cover-up. The perfect touch is the gatherings with the flowers. From cover-up to dancing the night away dear...

Hi Vicki,
My scarf is ready and will be mailing it this week. I just found out that a dear friend of mine has breast cancer and is spreading to her lungs. Hope my love is carried to all of the sweet women that will receive a scarf. Blessings...Lu

Every time I visit you Vicki I want to knit, but I couldn't possibly find any more time for any more projects at the moment :$
I'll just have to store the idea away for future reference.
You're so clever to create such a perfect skirt for a Caribbean cruise :D There's nothing for it now...you've just got to go so everyone can appreciate your beautiful creativity!

That is a simply beautiful skirt! Really amazing. I wish I had an idea of how you made it so I could make one too. If you ever decide to write the pattern down, and sell it, I would def. buy a pattern :).
